Superlative Award- Most Emotionally Distressing(Spoilers!)This book was something else。Loki is my favorite character in the MCU, and I was so excited that he had a whole book and he would be spending time on Midgard, but in 19th century London。 What's not to like? The first quarter of the book was really interesting。 It was cool to see Asgard and the royal family when they were younger, and see what their relationships were like。 Thor and Loki's relationship has always been really interesting to Superlative Award- Most Emotionally Distressing(Spoilers!)This book was something else。Loki is my favorite character in the MCU, and I was so excited that he had a whole book and he would be spending time on Midgard, but in 19th century London。 What's not to like? The first quarter of the book was really interesting。 It was cool to see Asgard and the royal family when they were younger, and see what their relationships were like。 Thor and Loki's relationship has always been really interesting to me, and the book does not fail in that department。Then he gets sent to Midgard。Loki acts like such a self-important prick to the humans he's supposed to be helping, it's actually hilarious。 I find his friendships with Theo Mrs。 Sharp really neat and fun to read。 The plot is interesting, with the whole living dead concept。 Amora was captivating as well, because I think you could probably guess it was her, but you don't know why。 I like her dialogue with Loki, I live for Loki's banter with Theo, and the setting fits the character really well。And then the third act starts。I actually wasn't prepared emotionally, because there are at least three twists in the ending, and I say at least because I'm not sure if the two of them really count as twists。 The first one is that is was actually Loki that stole the Norn Stones the whole time, which looking back actually makes a lot of sense。 The second one, that might not count, is when Amora kills Mrs。 Sharp。 This was the moment where I realized that this ending was going to be an emotional rollercoaster, because Loki doesn't do anything。 He just lets her。 The third one is the biggest one, where Amora turns out to be deceiving Loki。 It was pretty obvious, and I respect that the author didn't to pretend like it wasn't。 It's a twist that doesn't rely on shock value。 The fourth one is that Loki actually wasn't deceived, and he had known the whole time what she was planning to do。 This one fits his character perfectly, and it helps the audience not get too frustrated with him。 The fifth one might not count either, when Loki promises to bring Theo to Asgard with him, and then chucks him aside when the Bifrost appears。 I was actually furious with him, and I think that's the point。The thing I like the most about this book is that it reminds you that Loki is a villain。 I know fanfiction loves to make him a misunderstood anti-hero, and he kind of is, but he also killed a lot of people and wreaked a lot of havoc。 There's a lot of excellent foreshadowing to what he does in Thor and the Avengers, and it's an interesting wake-up call after you read a lot of fanfiction。 Not that I would know。 。。。more

I am giving this book 4 stars because it has some of my favorite literature tropes ie Romance, betrayal, growth, familial relationships (the good and the bad), and one of my favorite Marvel characters but had an honestly predictably murder mystery (my main reason for giving it 4 starts out of 5)。 In terms of pacing and plot, part 1 of the book is slow-paced and builds Loki's relationships with people around him。 While this might be slow paced for some readers, it pays off and helps the reader un I am giving this book 4 stars because it has some of my favorite literature tropes ie Romance, betrayal, growth, familial relationships (the good and the bad), and one of my favorite Marvel characters but had an honestly predictably murder mystery (my main reason for giving it 4 starts out of 5)。 In terms of pacing and plot, part 1 of the book is slow-paced and builds Loki's relationships with people around him。 While this might be slow paced for some readers, it pays off and helps the reader understand his reactions and mannersims later in the book。 The rest of the book is paced really well, and was able to connect to the actions and reactions (may I say mannerisms) of the characters。 If you enjoy the Marvel, then I would suggest you read the book。 。。。more

**SLIGHT SPOLIERS AHEAD*** Loved it。 I want to hold Theo and tell him I love him。 Loki and Theo would be soulmates in another life :((( I felt a bit disappointed at the ending before I realized that it’s kind of like an origin story and it needed to end this way to make the most sense。 I love Loki and will stand by the fact that had he been raised correctly his path would be much different。 He deserves a lot more than he was given

It's been a while since I've finished a book in under 24 hours。 But that didn't make it any less enjoyable。 Mackenzi Lee must have been channeling Tom Hiddleston when she wrote this story。 Loki's personality is so spot on but just slightly off enough to account for age and experiences not yet had。 It's so close to Loki from the MCU films but not quite in many ways as well。 Just as we should suspect from an angsty teen to young adult Loki。 I quite enjoyed it and it was a good precursor to get int It's been a while since I've finished a book in under 24 hours。 But that didn't make it any less enjoyable。 Mackenzi Lee must have been channeling Tom Hiddleston when she wrote this story。 Loki's personality is so spot on but just slightly off enough to account for age and experiences not yet had。 It's so close to Loki from the MCU films but not quite in many ways as well。 Just as we should suspect from an angsty teen to young adult Loki。 I quite enjoyed it and it was a good precursor to get into the head of Loki a bit just in time for the Disney+ series。 I recommend it to any MCU fans。 。。。more

I loved this book so much!

3,5 stars。This YA novel takes place before MCU events。 A magic mirror shows how Loki leads an army of undead to Asgard and when Loki and his friend Amora decide to take a peek themselves, they get into serious trouble。 Amora is exiled。Later Loki and Thor mess up a diplomatic mission and naturally Loki is blamed and sent into Midgard, i。e。 Earth, to help to solve a case of mysterious deaths。 19th century London doesn't look much to Loki but he has no choice but to solve the case before he can ret 3,5 stars。This YA novel takes place before MCU events。 A magic mirror shows how Loki leads an army of undead to Asgard and when Loki and his friend Amora decide to take a peek themselves, they get into serious trouble。 Amora is exiled。Later Loki and Thor mess up a diplomatic mission and naturally Loki is blamed and sent into Midgard, i。e。 Earth, to help to solve a case of mysterious deaths。 19th century London doesn't look much to Loki but he has no choice but to solve the case before he can return。Hmm, it was entertaining and there are similar bits there that I've loved about in Lee's other books (read them, btw) but for a 300-page book the first part, the set up part, takes way too long。 And then the end feels too quick。 There are double-crosses and other stuff you see in advance but are still fun read (well。。。 not all of them so fun。 Theooooo。。。)So, nice but I wanted a bit more from this。 。。。more

when watching the mcu movies I didn’t love loki, but I thought he was an interesting character at the least。 this book was fun enough, but it didn’t do anything to really change that opinion。 the thor/loki relationship was also kind of done dirty in this book, they made thor extremely one dimensional, and their relationship has so much more substance and history than that, so that was a bit。。。 disappointing。 on the other hand though, the book was readable enough, it had a couple slow moments, bu when watching the mcu movies I didn’t love loki, but I thought he was an interesting character at the least。 this book was fun enough, but it didn’t do anything to really change that opinion。 the thor/loki relationship was also kind of done dirty in this book, they made thor extremely one dimensional, and their relationship has so much more substance and history than that, so that was a bit。。。 disappointing。 on the other hand though, the book was readable enough, it had a couple slow moments, but I ended up able to get through it pretty quickly and enjoyed it for the most part。 I absolutely love nebula and gamora, so hopefully their book reels me in more when I read it soon! 。。。more
